Abstract
In this paper, we present a new design of passive UHF radio frequency identification (RFID) tag, which demonstrates a read range of 4.6 - 5.2 m at 915 MHz. The Kurokawa´s method and Friis free-space formula are adapted to calculate the theoretical power reflection coefficient and maximum read range, respectively. By means of simple tuning techniques, the proposed antenna demonstrates a bandwidth of 35 MHz with a compact size of 25 mm by 79 mm. This design is also found to be insensitive to dielectric loading. The performance analysis is presented along with the experimental data, which is in close agreement with the theoretical values.
