  • Abstract
    Transmission of a compressed still images using FFT-OFDM over PLC channels with additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) and impulsive noise is tackled. Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) is used as one of the compression techniques and it is compared with another compression method, which is Block Truncation Coding (BTC). A comparison between the two methods is carried out in terms of compression factor, and quality of the image. In addition, the effect of multipath on DWT and BTC is studied. Experimental results have showed that BTC method has proven to be more efficient than the DWT method in terms of the above mentioned criteria.
