Abstract :
The radio subsystem signaling of the GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication) is described. Particular attention is given to the air interface, the Abis interface (between radio transceiver equipment and a base station controller) and the A interface (between a base station controller and the switch). The details of the lower layers, particularly on the radio path, are examined. However, the major part of the present work deals with the upper signaling layers. After a general presentation of their organization, the protocols which are specific to GSM are presented, in particular those related to radio resource management and mobility management
