Abstract
The author presents propulsion assemblies for submarines which include an asynchronous motor and a PWM frequency convertor. In order to provide dielectric strength and resist marine corrosion, motors are oil filled and pressure is equalised. The equipment is used for the propulsion of the submarine Nautile and its auxiliaries and the motor-drive of the on-board wire-guided robot ROBIN. The author describes methods considered and technical solutions selected taking account of special constraints for this deep water submarine capable of descending to 6000 meters and resisting pressure of 600 bars
