Abstract :
The authors deal with the suppression of low-frequency inertial oscillations in an interconnected power system using an additional stabilizing signal to the static VAr compensator (SVC) units. A simple method is suggested to model the multimachine power system with SVC units at various buses. Using this model a new procedure is presented to design additional controllers for SVC units to improve the dynamic stability pertaining to low-frequency oscillations
