Abstract
Harmonic measurement is always the core factor when designing a compensator. Many of the existing harmonic compensators use the total harmonic compensation (THC) technique, where the compensators are designed to handle all the components other than the fundamental. However, in some circumstances, individual harmonic measurement is an essential requirement. Several individual harmonic extraction methods have been used, and each of them has their pros and cons. In this paper, a new approach of instantaneous harmonic extraction based on the instantaneous active and reactive power theory is presented. A series of simulation and experimental results is presented to demonstrate the capability of the proposed technique.
