  • Abstract
The authors present an expert system which can help operators to interpret a large number of alarm signals in the control center of a thermal power station under some abnormal conditions. When alarm or warning signals occur, the system can make inferences based on both the knowledge about the power systems and information acquired online from the power system. As a result, the location of network faults types of faults and possible malfunctions of the protection system can be detected and an explanation will be given if required. In order to conveniently interface with the database of the existing SCADA system, this expert system is developed in C language. The results given by the expert system can be graphically represented
