Abstract :
The feasibility of reconfiguring the radiation performance of integrated lens antennas (ILAs) has been studied numerically for the first time, by considering a standard version of ILAs (namely, an extended hemispherical substrate lens) illuminated by printed sub-arrays of variable size. The proposed concept is based on a ldquoone beam per sub-arrayrdquo approach in which switching from one sub-array configuration to another one enables one to control the radiation characteristics of the lens. This concept has been demonstrated only for on-axis radiation assuming the lens is excited by symmetric linear or surface arrays. The results for off-axis reconfiguration will be presented during the conference.
