Abstract :
A planar printed ultra-wideband dipole antenna with a shorting bridge has been presented in this paper. The shorting bridge has been used to reduce the size of the dipole and also enhance the radiation performance in terms of the maximum gain and stability of gain at boresight. A wideband balun has been used so as to measure the proposed antenna. The measured results have shown that the proposed antenna has the advantages of a stable boresight gain of 2.3-5.0 dBi across an achieved impedance bandwidth of 118% (2.8-10.9 GHz) for VSWR les 2 over conventional planar dipoles.
