Abstract
A generator control system is designed on the basis of the H∞ control theory, and control performance of the system is investigated. A Riccati equation approach applied to this study is introduced. The way to apply this approach to designing the system is presented. The control performance of the system is studied by numerical examples. In the H∞ design, a 1LG fault, a 1% change in volting setting and a 10% change in power setting are taken into account as power system disturbances. The results show some advantages and disadvantages of the system based on the H∞ control design
