Abstract :
We have designed an active Artificial Magnetic Conductor able to change its resonance by varying the diode polarization. This type of surface has been employed as backing plane for a bow-tie radiating element in order to synthesize a tunable and steerable antenna. The AMC allows to obtain a thin structure with a thickness equal to lambda/24, able to dynamically change impedance matching frequency. Moreover, the possibility of performing a beam scanning has been shown in correspondence of the mid-band frequency.
