Abstract :
A new method for estimation of parameters of a synchronous machine and excitation system presented. The method is based on online frequency domain (OLFD). The method is applied to the modelling of the synchronous machine and excitation system while the generator is operating. Power spectrum is used to analyse the transient process of the generator and excitation system. A dynamic fitting program developed in the frequency domain yields the frequency characteristics as well as the parameters of the generator and excitation system. The disturbing signals are provided by pseudo random binary sequences or bus-tie switching
