Abstract :
The authors outline the development of a low cost proposal for controlling disturbances which threaten system voltage stability. Its effectiveness is demonstrated following the loss of 5 lines on a 92 bus network when a supervisory programme, a prototype of the protection proposal, succeeded in regaining a secure operating state
