Abstract
Sensor network has a diverse set of requirements for kinds of applications. Directed diffusion is data-centric, whose performance can result in drastically poor when mismatched to applications. An adaptive directed diffusion routing in wireless sensor networks based on application is proposed in the paper. A general message machine for routing has been developed for communication in sensor networks, which can applicable in kinds of application scenarios with very little changes. ADDRA is proposed for application environment by switching adaptively from normal model to push model to match current application scenarios. The simulation is done in a range of application scenarios with varying numbers of sources comparing with other versions of directed diffusion algorithm. The results turn out ADDRA has better performance in varying application environment and network dynamics
