Abstract
Closeness of the radiating elements on a mobile terminal as mobile phone generates problems of coupling. The study proposed here is about coupling and diagram correlation effects on MIMO performance in UMTS band. We used a couple of planar inverted-F antennas in parallel, placed on a ground plane whose dimensions are compatible with a mobile phone. For an high SNR (20 dB), we loss up to 23% in average capacity due to the high power losses. Efficiency and directivity of antennas are very important parameters.
