Abstract :
In this paper, we proposed a design that is suitable for the VLSI implementation of digital filters in the digital radio mondiale (DRM) receivers. By using frequency-response masking (FRM) technique, the sequential quadratic programming (SQP) optimization method, and signed power-of-two (SPT) representation, the proposed filter not only achieved more savings in terms of multipliers, but also reduced the terms of coefficients word length in the filters. The VLSI implementation result shows that the proposed filter for mode C reaches the saving of 16% in power consumption and 77% in area cost compared with the conventional direct-form filter
