Abstract :
Conical radiators are difficult to analyze and provide exact analytical equations for their parameters such as gain, bandwidth, and input impedance. On the other hand using modern apparatus in conjunction with available software it is easier to actually implement and characterize their performances from the simulation results. This is the approach implied for this article. We have designed and implemented several spiral conical radiators either constructed analytical equations for their parameters or modified the existing equations to describe their behavior. A five turn spiral radiator shows 60deg 3db beam width, with a gain of 5 dB, and an input impedance of 1.2times characteristic impedance of the feed line.
