Abstract :
A single-chip digital lamp ballast solution based on 8-bit MCU C868 is presented in the paper. The solution mainly has EMI filter, active power factor correction (PFC), and a ballast control circuit. C868 controls both the ballast and PFC operation. The solution also has RS232/DALI (digital addressable lighting interface) for ballast network implementation. The detailed design considerations of the PFC and ballast control, and DALI interface as well, are discussed in the paper.
