Abstract :
In this paper, the description of similarity in frequency domain between voltage waveform and current waveform is achieved in infinite dimensions real vector space. A new kind of definition formula of power factor, which is suitable under arbitrary waveform voltage and current in single-phase system, is proposed. In this definition, power factor is defined as the product of virtual value similarity factor and phase similarity factor. Conventional power factor definition is only a special case of new definition. This definition suits not only steady state but also transient state.
