Abstract
We have designed a conformal end-fire antenna, where the dipole antenna is placed close to the ground plane. A 5times5 SRR array has been designed to provide the high impedance shielding from the ground plane. The SRR array utilizes the principle of resonance to provide a high impedance ground plane. It has been observed that as one brings the SRR array closer to the ground plane and the wire dipole is brought closer to the SRR array, one can obtain considerable gain, even more than the gain of the dipole antenna in free space.
