Abstract
Distributed wireless communication system (DWCS) has been considered as a promising architecture for future wireless access networks. In this paper, we develop an adaptive transmit-receive mode selection scheme for a multi-user system with this architecture. In the proposed scheme, large-scale fading information between users and antennas is employed to decide the most appropriate mode from three available modes named independent processing mode, joint processing mode and time division mode. Selection criterion for a system with two single-antenna users and two distributed antennas is discussed in detail. Numerical results indicate that the proposed scheme achieves high capacity with relatively low complexity.
