Digital transmission in 16 QAM format over cable and alternate media

The advent of digital television transmission is only a few years away. Accordingly, increasing interest has been shown in the ability of various alternative media to accommodate such transmission. The paper presents the results of 16 QAM transmission of pseudorandom data over cable, AM microwave links, multipoint microwave distribution systems and twisted pair distribution. Results of bit error rate tests are reviewed and the relative effects of channel impairments are examined
