Abstract :
The EBU will operate a private (as opposed to public or integrated) mixed network for several years, with 34 Mbit/s component digital transmission via Eutelsat II (8 channels), plus composite analogue transmission via the terrestrial network. As terrestrial fibre-optic circuits become available, they will permit transmission of 34 Mbit/s component digital signals via the terrestrial network, when a fully digital mixed satellite and terrestrial network will be realised
