Abstract
The use of digital modulation for the distribution of TV over the existing UHF/VHF terrestrial channels can become very attractive, providing one or several programmes in an 8 MHz band channel. The authors present a complete modulation-demodulation system based on a multicarrier approach and capable of conveying a 34 Mbit/s TV signal in an 8 MHz terrestrial channel. They first present the general principles of the system. Equalization and synchronization aspects and possible use of cross-polarizations to double the system capacity are considered. Finally the authors describe the hardware implementation of the system and present some experimental results
