Abstract :
A novel wideband antenna for UMTS and 2.4-GHz WLAN has been proposed in this paper. The measured bandwidth ranges from 1.92 GHz to 2.83 GHz. The measured radiation pattern resembles that of a monopole antenna at both 2.05 GHz and 2.44 GHz. Unlike the conventional PIFA, the antenna can withstand the variation of ground plane length, and maintain the S11 performance. The Z-shaped slot is proven to largely broaden the bandwidth.
