Abstract :
Antenna pattern optimization problems have usually been concerned with maximizing the gain of pattern at bore-sight direction subject to certain constraints on side-lobe levels. Here we consider a different problem which concerns maximizing the integral of power over a given region of antenna main beam with respect to the total radiated power, with or without additional constraints on the side-lobe levels. We have used Evolutionary Programming with a Levy mutation operator to solve the constraint optimization problem. This problem is of interest in earth observation radiometry as well as microwave high-power transmission systems for ground and space applications.
