Abstract
Introduces a model based approach in acquiring motion of a human body from a video image sequence. A model can not only help recognition of a human in the images, but also save the cost in 3D sensing. A 3D human model which has the function of articulate motion and changeable size, color and surface shape is provided. The model can be driven either automatically or manually through a graphics interface. We first fit the model to some particular frames so as to yield a personal model. The matching of the personal model with the image sequence for extracting human motion starts from matching key frames. The motion between key frames is interpolated. We are building a system for generating motion for multimedia, virtual world, and animation
