Abstract :
The most significant European activity for enhanced compatible PAL is concentrated within the PALplus consortium. The consortium comprises the major European receiver and broadcast manufacturers, broadcasters from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and the UK is represented by the BBC and UK Independent Broadcasting. PALplus activities are separated into a number of working groups, one of which is studying implications for the production studio. The work broadly covers three areas, the studio standard, the production studio, and the studio centre including internal and external communications. The article outlines some of the considerations of wide-screen 16:9 production under these three headings
