Abstract :
Linearization of harmonic controlled amplifiers (HCA) which have a theoretical power efficiency limit of 100% has been analyzed for mobile communication satellites. The analysis shows that the power transistor used for HCA requires more precise linearity than for a conventional class-A amplifier. An experiment using a UHF 70 W amplifier has shown a weight reduction ratio of one third for satellites
