Abstract :
The AMPS photovoltaic simulation software was developed in 1997 by Fonash et al. The original code was in FORTRAN and used a platform-specific interface based on Microsoft Foundation Classes. We have rewritten the kernel of the simulation in the C++ language and have completed several aspects of the original functionality such as the tunneling portion of the code. We have also revised the user interface using wxWidgets to provide a platform-independent interface. We are extending the interface to allow enhanced visualization and a more easily editable external database from which the parameters can be imported. This database is being made available as a public WIKI that will permit the simulation community to share and debate materials parameters. This WIKI will be extended to parameters used in other modeling tools. This will permit new users to rapidly implement simulations without having to first become experts in materials properties.
