Abstract :
This paper presents a stability assessment of wind energy conversion systems (WECS) in electric power networks based on stochastic methods. A stochastic model of the power network is presented. The system´s mean first passage time (MFPT) is obtained as a reliability index. The sensitivity of MFPT to noise intensity levels was studied on a 4-bus power system with a wind generator component. The MFPT can be used as a tool by power system engineers for planning the addition of wind generators to power systems
