Abstract :
In this paper the performance evaluation of the low-density parity-check (LDPC) and Reed-Solomon (RS) codes over wireless channels is presented. These codes are used as the forward error correction (FEC) technique to protect source data prior transmission over wireless channel. The system simulation includes the use of additive White gaussian noise (AWGN) as the wireless channel, while a grayscale image is used as the data source. The quality of the reconstructed grayscale image is measured using the peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR) measurement. The quality of output grayscale image is considered good if the value of the PSNR is above 30 dB.
