Abstract :
The paper describes how the practice of health and safety management has to form an integral skill of any manager in control of product design or any place of work. It argues that while specialist advice can be obtained from consultants, safety advisers, etc., the individual manager must be sufficiently familiar with the law and risk control mechanisms to prevent infringements and, above all, prevent accidents
