Abstract :
The paper describes a unique way to generate different musical notes using Motorola´s 8 bit microcontroller MC68HC11. These are twelve basic notes in music which have a proportional frequency distribution. The notes have been generated using the output compare port 3 (OC3) in the timer unit. A dedicated output port B of the microcontroller is used to synchronize the colored lights which indicate the note being played. A selection of a well known music is generated for illustration
