Abstract :
The analysis and the optimization technique of a multi-band operating system monopole disc antenna for the cellular application is presented. The operating frequency of the multi-band monopole disc antenna includes the GSM 900, GSM 1800 and 3G band. The antenna structure consists of a monopole cylinder with a circular disc to provide a broadband characteristic. The antenna is required to have omni-directional radiation pattern at all band with VSWR les 2.0. In this paper, the enhancement technique using a shorting post is analyzed to achieve the broadband characteristic. The simulation software is used to perform this analysis and the simulated results verify the effectiveness of this technique.
