Greater antenna measurement precision using the automatic network analyzer

The Automatic Network Analyzer (ANA) combined with some modified calibration procedures are shown to have particular advantages for certain antenna measurements revealing information that is not otherwise possible to distinguish from background distortion. To illustrate, precise measurements of mutual coupling between elements of a waveguide array are further manipulated to identify different coupling paths, separated absolute path amplitudes and phases, electrical path lengths and element electrical separations - parameters that are difficult to measure by any other means.
