Abstract
Based on the method of the simulation of a large beam by a sum of narrow beams, we study the characteristics of light scattering from a highly conducting, random rough surface illuminated by a incident large beam. The results obtained by this beam simulation method are compared with the exact solutions showing good agreement. This method enables one to give a rigorous solution of the problem of scattering from a rough surface illuminated by a large beam provided that the problem of scattering from such a surface illuminated by a narrow beam is solved rigorously.
