Abstract :
Use of biometrics is increasing everyday, as security concerns do. The purpose of biometric systems is finding the identity of the user comparing his biometric data with the one previously stored. The authors propose in this paper a new architecture for an authentication system. This architecture relays on a biometric co-processor, which just performs biometric processes but conferring a higher security rate, than the one obtained with an architecture based on a software design.
