Abstract :
The heating characteristics of a coaxial-dipole antenna for microwave coagulation therapy have been studied in comparison with those of the coaxial-slot antenna. First, we showed the structure of the antenna. Next, we introduced the FDTD method for calculating the heating characteristics of the coaxial-dipole antenna. Here, the validity of the analytical model was confirmed by comparing the calculated result with the experimental. Moreover, we studied the characteristics of the localized heating only around the tip of the antenna by the FDTD calculations. Finally, we revealed the effectiveness of the coaxial-dipole antenna by the coagulation experiment.
