Abstract :
PROMETHEUS is a European Research Programme, which has been approved as a Eureka Project and was launched by the European automotive industry in 1986. The objectives of PROMETHEUS are to reduce road accidents and to improve traffic efficiency. From these two prime objectives additional benefits of reduced environmental pollution, improved driver comfort, reduced driver stress and improved economy are also acquired
