Abstract :
A dual-loop automatic power control using thermistors (APC-T) is proposed to implement a 10 Gb/s laser driver in 0.13 mum CMOS process. Without using any monitor photo diode, the driver can still automatically compensate both the average power and the extinction ratio of laser output within temperature window from -40 to 80degC. And with a local feedback network, the output swing can generate a modulation current from 14 to 67 mA with duty cycle of 50%, edge speed of 26 ps and jitter of 13 pspp.
