  • Abstract
The simplicity and attraction of direct modulation of laser junction diodes for communication systems makes it worthwhile to put effort and study into the problems of unwanted changes in the output frequency (chirp) as the laser is modulated by changes of the driving current. The authors look at the causes and mechanisms of chirp, and frequency pushing in particular
