Abstract :
A novel reconfigurable multi-band PIFA antenna is introduced here. It can support the GSM850 and PCS services in one configuration and the WiFi/WiMAX frequencies in the other. With its low profile, it can be embedded into laptop lids. Meanwhile, p-i-n diodes have been utilized and integrated with the antenna with a simple and novel DC bias scheme. This structure, with its demonstrated excellent gain and omni-directional performance can be utilized for multi-radio laptop platforms.
