Abstract :
The insertion loss behaviour of an S-Band phase shifter is presented, operating at peak and average power levels in excess of 25 kW and 1000 W respectively. The results indicated that when operating at large average power levels, minimising the power dissipation within the toroid while complying with the peak power specification is paramount. Careful selection of the ferrite toroid material and its construction is necessary to meet the criteria and allow optimum performance of insertion loss, switching time, and phase accuracy within a given packing size
