Abstract :
The advanced synthetic aperture radar has been adopted for use on POEM-1 with a scheduled launch date of 1998. Each of the 320 T/R modules is required to meet stringent specifications in terms of size, mass, power consumption and overall electrical performance. This has facilitated the widespread use of GaAs MMIC technologies within the module. The project has also pioneered the use of new all-ceramic packaging technologies wherever possible to reduce mass
