IT around the year 2000-a personal view

It has been said that the best way to predict the future is to invent it. Such has been the approach of the science fiction authors. However, by the turn of the century and beyond one will see developments that were hitherto in the realm of science fiction becoming reality. Such developments will revolutionise the way one lives and works. This paper gives a personal vision of some of the developments which will influence how IT may look around the year 2000
