Abstract :
The authors consider the problem of fast search algorithms used in vector quantisation. Some currently used fast search methods are described and a new implementation based on the coupling of some of these algorithms is proposed and shown to provide better performance than the constituent algorithms on their own. The new algorithm can also be useful in the codebook design stage
