Abstract :
A model of phenol biodegradation using activated sludge was used for the implementation of an Asymptotic Observer and the Extended Kalman Filter for the estimation of biomass and phenol concentrations on the basis of the measurement of dissolved oxygen concentration. A simulation study demonstrates the feasibility of the estimation schemes
