Abstract :
The software independent verification and validation (IV&V) is essential, especially in the development of aerospace systems, to improve safety and reliability and to prevent system problems. We have to be able to estimate IV&V´s effectiveness in order to execute IV&V effectively and efficiently. In order to get the ideas of a new measurement of IV&V´s effectiveness, the three existing criteria for IV&V´s effectiveness is investigated and applied to some actual IV&V findings. By analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of the criteria, we try to clarify how to define a new improved one. Because the findings about various softwares are applied and two engineers measure the effectiveness independently, the applicability to various findings and the dependency of user are also clarified. Based on the trial measurements, the ideas for a more dependable new measurement is summarized. Considering these ideas and analyzing the purpose of the IV&V, new criteria and process of the measurement will be defined.
