Abstract :
The authors have investigated a frequency-doubled passively-Q-switched self-Raman laser formed by a composite Nd:YVO4/YVO4 and a saturable absorber Cr:YAG, for the first time. The system is a promising candidate for a compact, cost-efficient pulsed or CW yellow laser source. In future, use of 885 nm diode pumping to reduce thermal lensing may enable further power scaling of the system.
